Physical Education
 
Physical Education is an integral part of our curriculum and our students perform exceedingly well in this sphere too.
 
Yoga, Aerobics , Karate and Gymnastics form an integral part of Physical Education. Additional facilities for sports include gymnasium, strengthened tennis court and new playgrounds for volley ball, basket ball, kho-kho and cricket net. We were the runners-up in A.L. Mudaliar athletic meet.
 
At the Sir. A.L. Mudaliar Intercollegiate Championship, Ethiraj College has been winning 2nd place for the past 7 years. Medal winners received cash award and were sponsored by Mr. Namasivayam, Director, New Link Overseas Finance. At the Inter collegiate march past competition conducted by the University of Madras our march past team won I place consecutively for the past 2 years. Dr. Sivanthi Adhithan trophy for contributing maximum number of University Blues was received by our college for the past 7 years. The following teams won the Madras University B.Zone Tournaments Basket Ball, Volley Ball, and Hand ball, Cricket, Kabaddi, Athletics, Ball Badmintan, Kho-Kho and Tennis.
 
Every year Ms. Benjamin Memorial Trophy and cash award & Mrs. Neetah Gunaseelan Trophy and cash award are given for the outstanding sports women. Apart from this 4 outstanding sports girls from various games receive MRF Endowment scholarship.
 
Our college and Chess Association jointly conducts Rachael Paranjothi - a State Level Open Chess Tournament for Women.
 
The sports authority of Tamilnadu has established a Sports Development Centre in our college, where 12 volley Ball, 12 Basket Ball and 10 athelets are awarded Rs.5900/- per annum towards dietary charges and kit allowance.
 
The college organizes ESPO (Ethiraj Sports Festival ] Tournament for students, teaching and non teaching staff. Our college organizing every year, an inter collegiate Tennis Tournament in the name of M.N Moorthy Endowment Trophy.
 
College is sanctioning the Ethiraj Estate Scholarship for the University Blues and giving free boarding and lodging for the outstanding Sports students.
 
We have a college Band trained by Master Mr. Doughtry. Our band played not only for our college programmes but also for outside events like the A.L. Mudaliar Athletic meet.
