National Cadet Corps (NCC)
 
 
The NCC of the Ethiraj College is very popular and has several achievements to its credit and has maintained all records in the academic year.
 
CSUO Chandini Manokaran from Economics Department won the silver medal in the prestigious All India Best Cadet AIBC event in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi representing the Tamil Nadu Directorate. She marched along the much awed Rajpath, an honour bestowed upon only a select few cadets from the directorates all over India. She also did the MC for the flag Area Contest.
 
CUO B. Sowmya from T.T.M Department, CUO K. Nandhini from Economics Department, Cpt. S. Lakshmi from Maths Department, Cpt. S. Nivetha of Physics Department and Cpt. C. Priyanka of B.B.M Department all were chosen to march along the beach during the Madras Republic Day Celebrations – MRD, 2009.
 
Cpt. C. Priyanka of B.B.M Department attended the TSC Inter Group Competition – 1GC held at Madurai. Also along with Cpt. S. Lakshmi , Cdt. B. Revathi both from Maths Department and Cdt. Manisha Kumari from Advanced Zoology and BioTechnology Department , Cpt. C. Priyanka of B.B.M Department participated in the RDC IGC conducted at Coimbatore, representing Madras Group ‘A’. The directorate banner was won altogether by Madras Group ‘A’.
 
Cpt. Mamta Goswami of B.B.M Department , L/Cpt M. Shobana, L/Cpt. S. Vinodhi and Cpt. S. Logeshwari all from Economics Department attended a 10 day trekking camp at Ooty during the month of May.
 
L/Cpt M. Gurupriya of Psychology Department was chosen as the lone representative from Tamilnadu to attend a month long mountaineering camp at Kulu Manali. There, she was one among the three people to have successfully sealed the height of over 18,000 feet of the friendship Peak.
 
Cdt. A. Bhagya of Economics Department was chosen as the only girl cadet from Tamilnadu representing the state in the Parajumping camp held at Agra. She holds the rare privilege of the highest jump by any girl in India due to her feat of a 3200 feet jump.
 
Cpt. S. Nivetha of Physics Department, Cpt. K. Santhoshi of B.B.M Department , Cpt. Santhi of English Department, Cpt. Mamta Goswami of B.B.M Department Cdt. Mann Vizhi of Economics Department and Cdt. C.S. Sri Devi of Computer Science Department attended a National Integration Camp at Gujarat during the moth of November. Cpt. S. Nivetha won the second place in the solo dance event in the cultural competitions held there.
 
Cdt. B. Revathi of Maths Department was chosen to attend the National Integration camp at Nagaland representing the state of Tamil Nadu.
 
As the years come and go, the laurels and achievements the NCC cadets keep adding to the college never seem to cease. So has been the case in the academic year of 2009-2010, as it will always be. After all,it is not for nothing that they say that NCC is the place you need to be to dare to dream and Ethiraj College NCC at that!.
